Little pink desk

Did you know you can sit down to put your make-up on? Yeah. It's pretty pleasant. I did it when I went to visit my love. Pictured here after I put my face on while sitting down.

So when I got home from visiting, I went on the hunt for a little vanity-type desk/table.
Did you know that people that post on craigslist don't actually want to sell their stuff? Yeah. Crazy right? They just post it and don't answer their emails.
So I went to good old GW and found my little friend.  The sewing table.

(Stop spray-painting in the basement! He said)

And we were off. I wanted a dusty rose but Krylon doesn't work like that.  And Im not a patient painter. So light pink it is.
By now you know this is not a photography blog.

I ignored the laundry some more and decorated her.

Now leave me alone while I put on ma face!

Make it special

Do you have any rooms in your house that you kinda...ignore?  Maybe don't have anything on the walls or a special touch that makes it your in the room that makes it special to you.

Upstairs vs. downstairs is a whole other story!  I read something funny that was something like "Do you have upstairs friends?"  Meaning, do you pick-up your downstairs when people come over only knowing no one will go upstairs.  Or if only kids are going upstairs I will leave things not picked up for a while.

Guilty.

And I'm starting with my most ignored room.  Which is sad because it's my bedroom!  lol.  I will leave the laundry in there in baskets.  Nothing on the walls.  Blinds closed.  Well my friends, I'm trying to change that.

So I've been trying to make little touches to finish that room!

I started looking for cuter curtains and ended up using two shower curtains from Target!  Don't be afraid to think outside of the box.  I love them because they the have beige, grey and cream that is in the room.

I picked up a couple of furry friends from the end cap at Target.

I am happy that my beige can go with grey and cream.  The curtains pull these pillows together!  Cases are GW and the fluffy and bow pillow are from Target.  Is there a theme here?

I tackled the dresser last night.  I had horded saved a bunch of knobs from Hobby Lobby (which by the way is ridiculous that I live 2 hours from one!)  uhhhhhh!

The knobs don't match and that's what I love.

I will be working on some pics for the wall from my session with Katy Hall!

What is your most ignored room?

Oh and there will be a Trixiegirl Valentine SALE tomorrow only.  Shhhhhhhh.  Tell everyone. ;)

Day 17: Wall Nail Letter

I laugh because sometimes I don't look back at the Pinterest pin until I'm done with my try.
Maybe I have something in my head and don't "need" the directions.
This is an good example.
Maybe some of you measure when nailing into the wall, maybe some of you don't.
Maybe I don't too.
Here we go.

Here is my version...

Here is the wall we are working with.  It was feeling lonely.  ;)

You will need yarn (I switched to twine half way thru, a hammer, nails, a level, and measuring tape.

I needed to start going up the wall more, filling in more space.  I don't have a plan with this wall, but to just keep adding to it.  I will probably laugh in disgust in years when it looks like a dusty wall with memories of a  great idea!
Just like tight rolling or something.

Measure where you want the nails to go.  Nail away.  This is very hard because I should be telling you how to get the best outcome.  I call this winging it planning.

I tied a small knot and just hooked it on the first nail that you want to start with.

This is the simple twine K that I ended up with.  I like her.

Can you see her up there?

You could do this anywhere.
On a small part of a wall that needs a little something.
Maybe put an old frame over it.
Have you tried any of the

Let me know what you did and how it turned out!!!

The letter wall

It's one of my favorite parts of our house and something that gets the a lot of comments is "the K wall".

It's good for me because I'm good at not measuring when hanging things.

First initial, last initial...it's all the same right?

I didn't come up with this cute idea. But I can't remember where I saw it. But if you look on Pinterest, you could get some great inspiration.

You could do it with anything (vintage pics, family pics, mirrors, etc.). Put your kids art in frames and hang them up. Non-matching frames of course. Anything goes. Just make it your own. And add touches that make your house feel like a place that represents you.

It's a fun wall to do because it gives you something to look for when you are out and about. (cue MN accent).

I have gotten them from Marshall's, Anthro, gifts from friends..., Michaels, anywhere.

The silver one was a cardboard K that I spray painted silver. Very easy.

So, get cracking on a big or small wall that needs a little TLC.
